Our mission

Sri Lanka is a country solely depends on exports such as tea, rubber, coconut and other small crops. But our history reveals that our country had no system to bring these exporters together and promote them in their export trade by giving them with facilities such as raw material storage facilities, bonding space and financial assistance towards the expansion of their exports. Today our country needs their contribution to the economic development of this society. This is the only way we can reach our decided targets in the economy.

It is in this backdrop that the role of the co-operative banking becomes very significant and we come forward with co-operative objectives to be a part of it with innovative solutions to the export trade and meet challengers we overcome.

Though our co-operative system was established as far back in the year 1906 we had no scheme towards the promotion of the export trade and exporters. Therefore we have to take firm action to restructure the co-operative movement in order to face the challengers of globalization. We have targeted to bring these exporters together and introduce them financial assistance and professional assistance in this regard. In a situation where our government fails to setup a scheme to promote these exporters we make this as our original objectives as a co-operative bank and we can introduce them better banking assistance and technical know-how towards the promotion of this trade and be an integral part of the social economy in this country.

We firmly believe that this co-operative system would definitely be a complementary solution to the future challenges of our economy. The most important part of this is to get an understanding about the exporters in Sri Lanka. As a co-operative bank our services are widely spread even to the labourers who do an integral part of our economy. Our range goes from latex tapper to the landlord – tea – plucker to the exporter or the factory owner.

We want to change their lifestyles firmly by giving them education to their families and introduce a welfare system to solve their day – today problems. All sectors of this trade can be benefited from our co-operative system.
